COVID-19 STATEMENT - April 30,
2020
As we here at Alston Brook, the community, and the state of North
Carolina continue to navigate the world of COVID-19, we would like
to take this time to share some important information with our
residents, families, staff, and the community.
Alston Brook continues to work closely with local, state and federal
officials to ensure that we are doing everything possible to
mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our facility. We often receive
guidance or information from local, state, or federal officials only
to have that guidance or information to change within hours or days
of receiving it. Unfortunately, this can and has led to our facility
having to change the information that we have reported to family
members. We understand that this is frustrating for family members,
as it is very frustrating to us as well. Since early March, Alston
Brook has endeavored to keep families informed with current and
correct information at all times. When guidance and information
changes as rapidly as it is with COVID-19, there will undoubtedly be
times when we must call families and report a change in information
when we had just given families the initial information hours
earlier.
COVID-19 is a devastating virus that infects quickly and silently
without regard for age, race, socioeconomic status, or health
status. While most people will recover, there are many that will not
and our nation’s elderly are particularly at risk for having severe
symptoms and complications. Alston Brook would like to send out our
condolences and thoughts to all who have been touched by this
disease and especially to those who have lost loved ones to it. We
keep our residents, families, community, and nation in our thoughts
and prayers daily.
We have heard from many family members that have expressed their
gratitude for our efforts and who continue to support our facility
and our staff with words of encouragement, gifts, and praise and
this is greatly appreciated. Alston Brook is committed to continue
providing compassionate and quality care to our residents. With the
continued support of our community, we will get through this
difficult time together.
